Meeting the exacting demands of nuclear facilities is the diamond standard for an engineering service provider, and Kian marine has become a preferred supplier of Emergence Diesel Backup Generator (EDBG) repair services to the nuclear industry, delivering services to multiple plants around the United States.
Emergency Diesel Backup Generators
EDBGs are critical to the safety of almost every nuclear power plant globally. During normal operation, a nuclear plant supplies the power required to operate cooling and other critical safety systems and is backed up from power supplied by the grid. When a plant suffers a casualty that precludes supplying these systems itself and there is a LOOP event (loss of outside power) which keeps the plant from using power supplied from the grid, these EDBGs immediately come on line to ensure the plant has the critical power it requires for a controlled shutdown. As such, having these generators available to take full load 24/7 is critical.
Unplanned Outages
Kian marine diesel and in-place machining teams have been called upon to respond to major casualties to nuclear EDBGs all over the United States. Fast response with expert teams regardless of make or model of the generator is what sets Kian marine apart. As a standalone service provide or as support to the OEM, Kian marine always delivers.
Kian marine has engaged for numerous comprehensive repairs that have included: crankshaft replacement, crankshaft machining, engine line boring, major metal stitching repairs and engine rebuild and testing. Kian marine has also been involved in the emergency replacement of EDBGs that are beyond repair.
Whatever the requirement, Kian marine fast response and expansive capabilities limit downtime for the plant and get the plant back into compliance in the safest and shortest time possible.
